Nutty Online Dating and Butter Yellow Pudding Cupcakes

Can I just say that I have some of the best friends EVER?!  I was sitting at work today worrying because I didn’t have any material for this damn post.  I tried to write it two nights ago because I always seem to write better right before I head off to bed, but it just wasn’t flowing for me.

So instead, let me just make you cry a little with this super yummy picture of my dinner last night…  Double double cheeseburger animal style with fries from In-N-Out, y’all.

Vyvacious || Double double animal style with fries at In-N-Out

Doesn’t it make your stomach grumble?  I bet it does.  Hate me.  Hate me all you want.  I’ll still love ya.  I don’t even know what I’m talking about anymore.

Before we continue with this blog post, I HAVE to show you this video that my friend, Mark, shared with me via Facebook.  Holy shit, I laughed so hard!  I still am quite not sure how the hell this entire thing got produced as I didn’t get a chance for any clarification before this post published but…who cares?!  Mad props to Mark for getting this puppet guy to give me some awesome compliments about my blog :P

If y’all don’t remember Mark, then shame on you!  I featured him in my Great Balls of Fire Chocolate Pudding Cupcakes post because of the amazing rap he left for me so go check it out if you haven’t already (this will be a chance for you to redeem your shame).  Then you’ll be rapping “Vyvacious Bodacious” all day too…

Now back to last night…  Well, my volunteer group, Orange County Young Professionals (OCYP) of Costa Mesa Kiwanis (phew, what a fucking mouthful, eh?) met last night.  It was a board meeting and it went fantastically with some very awesome events planned for the future.  Now don’t exit out of this blog post just yet.  Just because I was at this meeting doesn’t mean we didn’t talk about some interesting shit.  Actually, the more awesome shit came afterward when my friend (let’s call him Jay) and I were sitting in his car just talking.

I asked him for dating advice because let’s be real here, I fucking suck at that shit.  The whole “game” thing?  Yeah, not good at it.  And somehow we started talking about online dating.  Now I’ve heard both super amazing success stories and I’ve also heard some of THE worst horror stories.

Long story short, I’m paranoid that a serial killer will show up in a clown costume (I’m looking at you, Le Clown), immobilize me by feeding me nuts (peanuts, you dirty-minded fucks – by the way, I’m allergic), and then make me watch him intoxicating-ly remove his red nose and big shoes.  Essentially, perform a de-clowning strip tease.  To me honest, I’M not even sure what the hell I’m talking about anymore.

What are your views and thoughts on online dating, y’all?  Yay or nay?

I know that maedez over at A Small Pressed Life met her Chef Hubby through online dating and it was a great love story from the beginning but I’m still nervous.  Even though Jay doesn’t do online dating himself, he still encouraged me to try it.  He knows how busy I am and thinks it’ll open doors for me as it’ll help me find someone I’m compatible with.  Truth is, the part I’m nervous about is wasting my time with random creepers.  But as Jay says, ″It only takes one good guy, Vyvy″.  Smart dude.  So help a sista out, what do YOU think about online dating?

Here are some things about me to help you make your decision:

  • I love Batman (duh).
  • I love food (double duh).  This means I need someone who’s also adventurous food-wise, but maybe not as adventurous as eating monkey brains in a 3rd world country.
  • I like to boogie until the sun comes up and would love a dance partner who isn’t scared of my super sexy medley of moves (that’s right, I said it – SUPER sexy).

You know, this shit is harder than I expected.  On top of telling me what you think about online dating, how about you also tell me what the hell I should put in my dating profile if I ever make one (sheesh, I’m demanding, aren’t I…?).  Maybe I should leave out the part about ″pro at castration of cheating exes″.  Or maybe not…let me know, yo!

In the meantime, here’s that damn recipe, y’all wanted.  Except wait…it was a motherf’ing tie!!  So here’s the recipe for the delicious Butter Yellow Pudding Cupcakes that I brought to Sweet Mother’s Podcom Comedy Show.  It was fecking™ hilarious (check out Sweet Mother made me fecking™ cry if you haven’t already).  Madame Weebles’ Indulgent Chocolate Cake recipe shall be posted soon.  Hopefully I won’t tease y’all like I did with the Ghirardelli Triple Chocolate Truffle Brownies and keep you waiting forever… :P

And here, my friends, is the long awaited half-bitten Butter Yellow Pudding Cupcakes picture… Please ignore the slopping frosting job, I was in a hurry to get some cake in my belly!!! :P

Butter Yellow Pudding Cupcakes

*Makes 48 mini cupcakes, 24 cupcakes, or 2 (8-inch) round cakes

Click here to print or save the recipe to your computer!! :)

Ingredients:

  • 1 box of butter yellow cake mix (I prefer Betty Crocker)
  • 1 stick of butter, softened
  • 1 cup of milk
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 tsp of vanilla extract
  • 1 (3.4 oz) box of vanilla instant pudding Jello mix

Equipment:

  • Hand mixer, large mixing bowl, cupcake baking pan (or equivalent)
  • Rubber spatula, ice cream scoop (proportional to size of muffin pan cavities), cooling rack

Steps:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. Put all the ingredients in the large mixing bowl.  Using the hand mixer, mix on low until the ingredients are just incorporated then beat on high for 2-3 minutes until the batter gets fluffy in nature.  Scrape the sides of the mixing bowl down as needed.
  3. Line your cupcake baking pan (if that’s what you’re using) with cupcake liners.  Using the appropriate ice cream scoop, divvy up the batter amongst the cupcake cavities.
  4. For mini cupcakes, bake for 8 mins.  For regular cupcakes and the cakes, bake for 15 mins and check it.  Bake for a minute or two more if needed.
  5. Let the cupcakes sit for 5-10 mins in their pans before moving to a cooling rack.

Let cupcakes cool to room temperature then frost with my favorite Dark Chocolate Frosting and enjoy or store in an airtight container at cool room temperature to frost and devour at a later time :)

Until next time, y’all!! :P

Dude, that guy has a PHD, so he must know what he’s talking about!

On online dating: go for it! I’ve heard so many stories from personal friends and I think all the good ones I’ve heard outweigh any bad ones I’ve heard! From online daters themselves, I’ve heard a good amount of personal friends vouch for okcupid out of the free services. Out of the paid ones I think eharmony is the better one (in the case of eharmony v. match.com?) and match.com is the one with a really crazy survey and where christians like to go? I might of gotten that mixed up, so errr do your research! Just passing on what I’ve heard. :P

And I’m in total agreement with ‘Jay’ – it only takes one good guy! You only need one!

If anything, you’ll at least have some good stories to take away and share. Live a little! ;)

I would definitely have to do a lot of research. Still weirds me out. It’ll take a lot of getting used to on my part. Haha

Yeah I only want one! Any more and it’ll be too complicated!! Haha.

      That’s true, Annie, that’s true… Live a little…

here are my thoughts on online dating. you have to do it. everyone is doing it and you’re very tech savvy. plus, LA, ugh, LA, everyone has to have plans to go out as opposed to meeting somewhere, so a dating site is a great way to say ‘yeah, i’m really doing this.’ after all, you have a great (and safe) comedy show to bring wack-a-loons to and sweet mother will even vet them for you… just sayin’. but, with all that said, safety is a priority. online date. you have to in this day and age. but, ALWAYS tell a friend where you are going and with him. give her the guy’s phone number and tell her what his online match profile name is. that’s important, important stuff. then forget that you’ve done all that like a modern day clarisse starling, go out, and have fun… xo, sm

Thanks for the support, Sweet Mother. It’s true about the plans… Especially for me since I actually live 45 mins east of LA (if there’s no traffic).

Ooh good about bringing the candidates to you!! If he’s not crying like I was when I saw your show then he gets the boot!!

Thanks again <3 I just need a little push. And safety is definitely a huge priority for me so I'll try to keep that all in mind :)

Silly professor. I dig his accent though.

Online dating? I also dig it. I met my last serious-relationship ex through there in Oregon, which lasted an entire year. Sadly I think the fact that we moved back to California is the reason that it went sour, since a native-born Oregonian just didn’t do so well with the Orange County type folk, so it had to end.

After her, I met another person, whom I still talk to every day and is practically my best friend, but we just didn’t work out as boyfriend/girlfriend material due to me wanting some time away from relationships to get my act together (thus, 2012 for me).

OKCupid is the website I use, which I recently started up again the first of this month actually. I prefer it, since the questions lets you see beforehand if it’s the type of person you’d like to date, and the profile lets you get a feel for the person before agreeing to a date. Their matching system works great; both people I dated were matched at 99% for me, and I actually got along pretty damn well with both people. PlentyofFish is too unorganized for me, Zoosk is just money-hungry; I prefer not to pay for a dating website such as Match.com or eHarmony.

However, with OKCupid, and any other dating profile for that manner, as a female you’ll just have to realize and not get discouraged by the fact that a ton of guys will message on a daily basis just for sexual relations.

On a related side note, Efrain made an OKCupid one day, and we were matched @ 99%.

Hmm ok. 99% is pretty damn crazy!! My friend swears by eHarmony (I think).

So it’s gonna be like everyday life then…? :P

HAHAHAHAHA!! Oh you and Efrain!! Freaking hilarious :P

I don’t even know where to start. First, that puppet almost had me in fucking tears (of laughter!). If I’ve ever wondered how I’ll know when I’ve really made it, there’s my answer. A puppet video review of my shit. Second, these cupcakes. These. cupcakes. Third, you definitely need a chef. Mine has eaten all kinds of weird food all over the world, and is now taking me on the crazy culinary journey with him. Fourth, my online dating experience was ideal and without one ripple of terror. I never had a bad experience. Unlike my friend Christy, who went out with a seemingly nice, stable guy. He ended up having two things in his fridge: cheese and a monkey brain. Where’d she meet him? Not online. At a bar. Just sayin’.

Honestly, these cupcakes are SUPER moist but still hold their density very well due to the 4 eggs. I myself was surprised.

Oh god that’d be amazing if I met a chef :)

Nooooo, are you serious?!? Please tell me you’re just make a joke about the monkey brains in reference to my post and that you aren’t really serious…

Actually, it might have been a heart. I forget, but it was one or the other. I’m quite serious. She opened his fridge to chill a bottle of white wine, and it was all downhill from there. The weirdest part is that he is not a scientist of any kind. No excuse for that shit in his fridge.

Good god. Either way, creepy as shit. Yeah I’m not very nice to guys that approach me in bars…oops. Maybe if one of them had anything intelligent to say but if they just yell “yeaaaah” and then rub their dicks on me, you best believe that I’m not a happy camper.

Um, no. Dick rubbing in bars is revolting, especially when you are just there to, you know, have a brewski. Some guys don’t get it when ladies just go to bars to hang with friends and drink. Now that I am married, I get hit on at bars at 5x the rate I did when I was single. Sometimes my husband is standing right there-all 6’1, 225 pounds of him-and they just don’t care.

      • vyvacious says:

Yeah it’s like they automagically think that just because you’re there that must mean you welcome their dick rubbing antics.

Really?!? Why do you think that is? That’s crazy! Some guys are just assholes.

Yep, any woman in a bar must be there cause she wants to bang a dude. amirite or amirite? Blech. As for my situation, the answer is, I believe, simple: they want what they cannot have. The end.

On-line dating was a great deal of fun for me, even before I met Sara. I did have a few less interesting stories, but overall, it was fruitful. You have the opportunity to be yourself completely, if you take it, and filter right off the bat, what you want, or want less, in the people you want to me.

Anyways, in regards to your inquiry, while I have no online dating experience, I do have a close friend that has had great success. While the first two people she met online didn’t work out forever, she did date one of them for several years. And when they broke up she went back online and has been dating someone she met on there for about 6 months. So you can do it! There may…ok, will…be some creepers but you could meet someone who’ll knock your socks off too — it’s always worth trying!
