Florida Adventures (Part 1): Disney World
I think I might explode. I’ve been in Orlando for the past few days and I haven’t stopped eating no doubt thanks to my cousin but also…because I baked today! :) Those recipes to come in my next few posts. Back to THIS post…well this post is about freaking Disney World!!! :D
Are you ready?!
Well wait…before we get into all the awesome pictures and fun…let’s delve into how I got to Disney World in the first place!
My plan was to get to the airport at least an hour early so I could take my time through security and have a chance to relax a little before my red-eye flight to Orlando. Let’s just say, I never predicted that I would be running through an airport for the first time in my life with my Batman backpack swinging precariously from my shoulder and my roller bag wheel-ability pushed to the max.
But that’s exactly what happened when a Delta representative told me the wrong gate number for my flight. Once I figured it out, there was only 10 mins before my flight took off so I alerted the guy who I knew was also misdirected and we ran for our lives all the way across the terminal. We made it with 4 mins to spare…sweating…out of breath…and just damn glad that we didn’t miss our flight.
I had planned ahead and put yoga pants, a comfy sports bra, and a loose top in my backpack for me to change into at the airport. Well clearly that didn’t happen. CLEARLY. So what did I do? I changed my ENTIRE outfit while sitting in my seat with my seat belt fastened and passengers all around me.
Desperate times call for desperate measures. I very carefully put everything on one piece at a time while simultaneously removing the other piece. Switching out my bra was of course the hardest part. Luckily I managed and no free strip show was given that night. Sorry boys.
Now hold up. Some of you might be wondering why the hell I decided to go to Orlando in the first place. Truth is, I just got bored, saw how cheap the flights were ($250 is a steal when $500 is the norm usually!), and headed on over to visit my family whilst eating lots of food.
Here’s an example of what my family is like…
Me: Where are you guys? I’m waiting for my bag.
Trav: At home. I thought you were taking a taxi.
Me: Thought you were joking?
And I spent the next 3 days in the airport wandering from gate to gate. Just kidding. First stop after dropping off my bags at the house, MAGIC KINGDOM!! :D I’d like to introduce to you my cousins Mike (blue shirt) and Travis (red shirt)! I was so excited that I even wore my Batman dress…and yes, it has a cape :P
It was great to attend the “Dress Rehearsal” of the New Fantasyland!
I did a little posing with Gaston’s statue!
And even met Gaston himself! But the cutest thing was when Gaston came out and saw mini Gaston!! There was this little boy that was decked out and looked exactly like him and he was waiting patiently to meet full-sized Gaston. It was the cutest thing ever!!! They even engaged in a friendly arm wrestling competition!
Mini Gaston stuck through it and kicked full-sized Gaston’s ass!! ;P I was laughing so hard, it was so cute!
Of course, I couldn’t laugh TOO hard because we were digging into our Roast Pork Shank.
It was absolutely delicious! I was so surprised how tender and flavorful it was. Yummy!
Here’s an awesome photo of us coming off of the People Mover ride. My cousin-in-law, Jim, joined in on the picture this time. Yay! I love happy group photos! :D
With all the crazy heat, it was definitely time for a little Dole Whip action!
As we were heading out to get ready for our dinner reservations at Citricos, I encountered the beautiful blue bench from my last visit that I desperately wanted to take a picture when there was enough sunlight. Well I got my chance and took it!
I was super excited to eat at Citricos in the Grand Floridian because I had heard such amazing things about it from friends who went years ago. Sadly, I was so so disappointed and our visit resulted in them losing 3 customers (2 of whom are residents that had already visited several times before). If you’d like, check out my Yelp page and read my Citricos review HERE.
Nonetheless, we tried to make the best of it. The desserts were tasty and well presented enough for me to take a picture with them :P
All in all, I had a great, very exhausting, first day in Orlando. Can’t wait to share with you my Saturday shenanigans, complete with recipes! :) Until then…do a little dance in YOUR favorite superhero costume (Batman, of course ;P).

I did, thanks! Me too…I would have been one unhappy un-Disneyed-out Batman had I missed it.
You’re welcome!
I certainly will most likely at the same time that I’m boarding my flight :P
