Bitches and Indulgent Chocolate Cake

I love the internet, don’t you?  Otherwise, this little gem would only be shared with other horrified teachers and shamed parents…and not with all of you folks :P

Vyvacious || Beach vs. Bitch

Such a beauty, ain’t it?  Bitch…beach…it’s all the same really!! :P  Besides, if I didn’t have the internet, how would I met all of you?!  Well some of you I’ve met in real life which is super fantastic!  Yaaaaaay!! :D  As for the rest, Mr. Internet here (most likely WordPress) introduced us.  How freaking awesome is that?!

Pretty freaking awesome :D

Who knew there would be such a great, supportive community online?  I sure didn’t.  I’m pleasantly surprised everyday to find that the online world is not completely full of trolls and worthless idiots.

And did I mention that these fuckers know how to throw a party?  No?  Well I’ll wait as you mosey on over to Le Clown’s site to check out his birthday tribute to Madame Weebles.  Both are strong, hilarious presences in the WordPress world and both do a lot of damn good shit for people.  If you didn’t cry like Madame Weebles did in her “Well shit, people” thank you post then you’re a damn rock.  And I don’t mean that in a good way.

When Le Clown asked me to submit my birthday wishes for Madame Weebles in a fashion that fits me, I, of course, could only think of one answer.  CAKE.

Indulgent Chocolate Cake with my favorite Dark Chocolate Frosting to be more exact.  Now y’all have already read the post about some of my favorite things that includes the coveted Dark Chocolate Frosting right?  If not, I’ll wait ;)  Here it is -> Some of my favorite things:  Batman & Dark Chocolate Frosting.

As I looked at the three pictures that I sent to Le Clown that were sandwiched by amazing poetry and dirty limericks, I realized that I suck at this contributing to a huge birthday card thing.  I thought it would look grand and fantastic but instead the pictures didn’t do anything for me.  I didn’t even write a little message because I forgot.  I just had to hope that Madame Weebles saw my little note I fashioned on top of the cake.  Le sigh.  Better luck next time I guess.

Vyvacious || Madame Weebles' Birthday Sign

Ta-da!! :)

I can only hope that she (and Le Clown) realized that each picture represented an hour’s worth of work (there were 3 for those of you too lazy to check out Le Clown’s Birthday Tribute to Madame Weebles).

This is not a pity party, y’all…more of a ″I hope you realize how awesome I think you are by making you a 2-tiered, 3-hour-total-effort cake that you didn’t even get to eat to show you my love!!!″  THAT is what this post is really about :P

See these sprinkles?

Vyvacious || Sprinkles

I sifted through all of them to extract the purple sprinkles since purple is Madame Weebles’ favorite color in case y’all didn’t know ;) Ignore the tombstone sprinkles…that’s why I was removing them!!

Vyvacious || Purple Sprinkles

Pretty, huh? :)

Also, don’t be discouraged by the 3-hour production time.  I’m just really slow and that time includes all my prep, crafting of the Weebles birthday sign, and cleanup/dishes.

FYI, this was my first time making a cake since I started my blog.  I’m used to making cupcakes and mini treats so I was sweatin’ balls.  Luckily, it turned out yummy :)  Now, bask in this glorious photo shoot (read: 2 pictures) of Madame Weebles’ birthday cake and then prepare yourselves for this fantastic Indulgent Chocolate Cake recipe :)

Indulgent Chocolate Cake Recipe

*Tweaked from Lulu the Baker’s Best Chocolate Cake
**Makes 2 (8-inch) round cakes

Click here to print or save the recipe to your computer!! :)

Ingredients:

  • 1 3/4 cups of flour + whatever is needed to dust cake pans
  • 2 TBSPs of cold butter (for the cake pans)
  • 2 cups of sugar
  • 3/4 cups of cocoa powder
  • 2 tsps of baking soda
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • a dash of salt
  • 1 cup of buttermilk
  • 1 stick of butter, melted
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 tsp of vanilla extract
  • 1 cup of hot, strong coffee

Equipment:

  • Large mixing bowl, hand mixer, wire whisk, small bowl
  • Rubber spatula, 2 (8-inch) round cake pans, cooling rack

Steps:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. Butter 2 (8-inch) round cake pans by rubbing cold butter all over the inside of the cake pan.  Then add a TBSP or two or flour to the pan and swirl it around until flour covers every part of the inside of the pan.  Add more flour as needed.  Tap the flour-coated pan against the side of the counter to remove excess flour.  Discard of excess flour in the trash or use it as part of the flour needed for the cake.
  3. Combine all dry ingredients in a mixing bowl and whisk until just combined.
  4. Combine all wet ingredients except for hot coffee in a small bowl and whisk gently until just combined.
  5. Pour the mixture into the dry ingredients and beat until just smooth using a hand mixer.
  6. Add the cup of hot coffee and mix until just incorporated.  Keep in mind, the batter will be super duper runny.  Don’t fret; it’ll be okay my loves :)
  7. Divide batter evenly amongst the floured 2 (8-inch) round cake pans and bake for 30-35 mins.  Check on it at 30 minutes and add an additional minute or two until an inserted toothpick comes out clean.
  8. Remove from the oven and let cool for 10 mins before inverting the cakes onto a cooling rack to finish cooling.

Frost with desired frosting (which really means you NEED to frost with my favorite Dark Chocolate Frosting) and enjoy!! :)  This cake, along with the Dark Chocolate Frosting, will fare magnificently for 2-3 days if stored covered at cool room temperature.

Madame Weebles, I hope you enjoyed the tutorial on how to make your birthday cake!! :D

Until next time, y’all!! :P

I got them as part of a set of 4 different Halloween sprinkles. I didn’t have time to run to the store so when I saw them, I knew what I had to do :)

Dedication at its finest. Can you put tombstone sprinkles on funeral cupcakes, or is that bad form?

I WILL make this cake! I’m thinking for the upcoming Superbowl party. I love the idea of the coffee, that simply makes it amazing! Oh yes, and how interesting to put buttermilk in it. That would make it extremely moist.

I agree, the internet has been such a great place to meet new friends, Vyvy, including you!
    Hugs,
    Cathy

Ooooooooh good idea!! :D Thank you! The coffee really enhances the chocolate flavor, it’s fantastic but not overwhelming :) Yeah it was my first time using buttermilk in a cake and I was pleasantly pleased.

Oh yay, I feel the same way, Cathy!!

WEEEEEEEEEE!!! You know, I was planning to make a chocolate cake one of these days, but had another recipe on hand. I’ll switch it for this one and see how they like it here! Chocolate cake is something I don’t make thaaaat often as lighter desserts are preferred or I should say lighter tastes (vanilla etc.). And when I do make something chocolate-y…brownies are the way to go! I even got my dad to eat it and he doesn’t eat chocolate desserts at all as he find it way too decadent. But for me personally, I do like a good chocolate dessert every now and then and I HAVE to have a good chocolate cake recipe for when I want to make one! *mission mode* hehe ^_^

Mmm! Well you better get on it, missy! :P Seems you have quite a few recipes lined up for you to try ;)
