Some of my favorite things: Batman & Dark Chocolate Frosting

Let’s talk about a few of my favorite things, shall we? :)

I have a LOOOOT of favorite things so let’s focus on just two:  Batman & Dark Chocolate Frosting.

Batman now, Dark Chocolate Frosting later ;)

Vyvacious || Blinged out Batman necklace

I decided to start the new year in style, all blinged out with this bad boy.  I even went so far as to write “Blingin’ in the new year…” as my caption on Instagram.  You know you love the corniness so just freakin’ add me already!! :P

My love for Batman jewelry doesn’t stop there, it goes on to include these cute Batman stud earrings…

Except my ears aren’t pierced.  “Whaaaaaaaaaat?!” you must have gasped.  I know, I know.  I got them virgin ears.  Truth is, I’M NERVOUS!!  Lately I’ve bought a few pairs of earrings though, I think I have 3 total.  So who knows, maybe one day after I have a million earrings, I’ll decide to finally pierce my damn ears :P

Vyvacious || Batman (alcoholic) drink pouch

See, my love for Batman knows no bounds!  It even extends to sippy pouches.  Not sure what kids would have put in this shit but alcohol is DEFINITELY going to chill in that pouch at some point.  Not for long though ;)

Perhaps one of my more favorite things is this Batman business card holder that my friend Sherrie made for me.

I love homemade custom things so, so much because I think they’re just THAT extra special.  If you’re ever in the mood for a custom piece, check her out at Sherrie’s Custom Creations :)  Super cute and super affordable!

Now, I bet some of you just wanted the motherf’ing Dark Chocolate Frosting recipe right?!  Well, it’s coming up! Sheesh!  Trust me when I say it’s deliciously decadent.

Vyvacious || Favorite Dark Chocolate Frosting

This Dark Chocolate Frosting will soothe all your chocolatey fantasies but isn’t overly sweet.  The perfect complement to Buttermilk Yellow Pudding Cupcakes like the ones I delivered to Sweet Mother’s comedy show (read about all the fun in my last post:  Sweet Mother made me fecking™ cry :P).  Also fantastic on an equally Indulgent Chocolate Cake like the one I crafted for Madame Weebles’ birthday.

Full recipe posts on both yummy creations to come. You can decide which in the comments :)  For now, let’s just focus on my favorite Dark Chocolate Frosting, y’all :D

Ingredients:

  • 3 sticks of unsalted butter, softened
  • 6 TBSP of half-and-half
  • 2.5-3 tsp of vanilla extract
  • a pinch of salt
  • 3-3.5 cups of powdered sugar
  • 10 oz (1 bag) of dark chocolate

Equipment:

  • Hand mixer, large mixing bowl, medium microwaveable bowl, rubber spatula

Steps:

  1. Combine all ingredients except for the dark chocolate and the powdered sugar in a large mixing bowl.  Mix on low until just incorporated.  Don’t worry if it looks a little strange, the consistency will become much more desirable in a second :)
  2. Add a cup of powdered sugar and then mix on low until just incorporated.  Scrape down the sides of the bowl with a rubber spatula as needed.  Repeat twice until 3 cups of powdered sugar has been added total.  Add more if desired but for me, it was perfect.  Remember that you’re adding dark chocolate to it so the flavor will become much more intensified.
  3. Melt the dark chocolate in a medium microwaveable bowl for one minute and use the rubber spatula to stir the chocolate vigorously.  This will help the rest of the chocolate melt without overheating the chocolate.
  4. Pour half of the chocolate into the mixing bowl and beat on medium with the hand mixer until incorporated.  Repeat.
  5. Set the mixing bowl in the fridge for 20-30 mins.  Don’t let it sit for too long because the mixture will harden and not frost properly.  Finish beating the frosting on high for a minute or two until the frosting seems spreadable but not too solid.

Frost your desired cupcakes or cakes and enjoy! :)  Store the frosting at cool room temperature in an airtight container.

What recipe do YOU want next?!

Would you rather see the Buttermilk Yellow Pudding Cupcakes (picture HERE) that I made for Sweet Mother OR the Indulgent Chocolate Cake (shown above) that I made for Madame Weebles?  Let me know in the comments and that’s what I’ll post on Thursday! :D

Until next time, y’all!! :P

  4. THREE STICKS of butter. Now that’s what I’m talking about.

This really has nothing to do with your post, but the instant I read “dark chocolate”, this video popped in my brain. If you haven’t seen it, you’re welcome ;D

That’s right, babyyyyy!! :P to tell the truth, most frosting recipes seem like it only has a stick or a stick and a half of butter but it won’t frost all the cupcakes you made so I said “fuck it,” here’s the frosting recipe if you made a regular batch of cupcakes :)

      OH. MY. CUPCAKES.

I had never seen this video before but holy crap! HAHAHAHA!! I’m in love! I listened to the whole thing and danced along :P thank you sooo much! It’s freaking hilarious!! :D

  7. You should get your ears pierced at a tattoo/piercing parlor. It won’t hurt! And they’re super sterile and safe :)

I don’t think the pain scares me. I don’t mind that. It’s just…I’m weird. I think it’s the commitment of wearing necklaces all the time. I just feel like I’ll have to change my style to incorporate earrings. I don’t know!! Told ya, I’m weird! :P

      • Ha! No, I get you. I change my earrings every day, and with every outfit. But I also LOVE earrings, so that’s why I do it ^.^

Oh dear. I think it would be a love/hate relationship for me. I feel like I would become overly obsessed with picking the perfect earrings for an outfit… Haha. But then Amy told me that was the joy of it, finding the perfect ones. She discouraged me from doing it when we were drunk in Vegas for my birthday. Haha!!

I figure I’ll know when I’m ready :P like with kids. HAHAHAHA just kidding that waaaaaaay far out!!!

      • I’m going to kick Amy’s butt for discouraging you! ^.^

Hahaha! Well I think she could tell I wasn’t sure and wanted me to only get my ears pierced if I really really really wanted to do it :P

You know, I’ve never thought to ask this, but which actor that portrayed Batman is your favorite?

Adam West for me, although I did think Christian Bale did a good job with the recent reboot.

    • vyvacious says:

Honestly Mark, I have the same opinion as you on this. I love how corny Adam West is and just the entire awkwardness of it all. For a funny Batman, Adam West definitely takes the cake. However, I would say though that I love Christopher Nolan’s vision of Batman and that Christian Bale fit well within that role. So I only like Christian Bale as Batman BECAUSE of Christopher Nolan’s take of The Dark Knight series in general.

Oh goodness. I think this will be a post all by itself someday but I realized around senior of high school. I’m a late bloomer, what can I say…? :) Once I knew though, I proudly broadcasted my Batman obsession to the WORLD! :P

LOVE all your Batman bling! All your Batman Stuff brings me back to a wonderful time, being a kid and watching Batman on a teeny tiny B&W TV!
Being of Spanish heritage, we get our ears pierced at our first pediatrician’s appointment. I have a theory about that: I think they get our ears pierced that early so that our mom’s can dress us in the blue & white kniited sweaters our grandmothers made. Ear Piercing helps identify the sweet bald newborn’s gender and there are no mistakes! ;0
Now about that Frosting! I think I may have to make a batch and see how good it is – just so I can say I tried it. If there is any left over, I may let the kids try it too! YUM!!!

Oh I love bringing back good memories!!

Haha good idea. Yeah I was not a cute baby…well at least I didn’t think so. But I was a cute toddler! :P My mom used to put stick-on/clip-on earrings on me all the time. Haha.

Oh please do and let me know what you think of it! :) Haha, sneaky. I like it!!
